American tennis superstar Serena Williams has been a mother!
The 23 women's single grand slam winner gave birth to a daughter on September 2, local time. Her sister, Venus, celebrated her niece's birth with a crisp 2-0 celebration.
Serena, who announced her pregnancy in April, said she knew she was going to win the Australian Open women's singles title and her 23rd grand slam title at the Australian Open.
Serena who turns 36 on September 26, told reporters she was aiming for a return to the Australian Open in 2018. Serena said,
"It was the boldest plan, and I just wanted to set myself the goal, three months after production, and the schedule was really tight. In tennis, it's minutes. If I keep losing, people will feel like I'm done, especially if I'm not 20. I can tell you that my victory won't go down, or I won't, or I won't.
Serena first won the women's singles title in 1999, six times in total.
In 2000, her eldest sister, Venus, won the first women's singles title in 2000.
